Heb 3:11 So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.”
Here in Hebrews we are told that God was provoked to wrath. What was it that provoked God to wrath? Murder? Sexual immorality? Idolatry for sure? No, it was none of these. It was unbelief! The people could not believe that God was so good that He would give them the land He had promised to give to them. They gave a report of what they saw. It was true that they saw giant inhabitants yet God called it an evil report. Why? Because there was no mention of God. It did not presume that God was going to destroy the enemies for them. And this is what God calls unbelief and it provokes God to anger.
Num 13:2 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
